Breath, Chant & Spirituality Workshop
30th January-1st February 2009
Facilitated by Fr Simon Sleeman, OSB, Glenstal Abbey, Noirin Ni
Riain, internationally renowned leader of chant workshops and Niall Kelly,
teacher of the Alexander Technique, they will collectively guide you to
new possibilities even before you are aware of it.
New life, new light and personal transformation are some
of the gifts of the ancient Celtic feast of Imbolc – February 1st
- that are neglected and forgotten in this post-modern age.
This most important Celtic season marks the beginning of new growth
in nature and celebrates the completion of the dark half of the yearly cycle.
This unique week-end in the sacred, spiritually renewing, space
of Glenstal Abbey focuses on the retrieval of such blessings from our own ancient
Celtic tradition and promises new perspectives which will support, calm and
deepen your experience of this spiritual season of new growth and beyond
Every world wisdom tradition has valued at its very heart an obedient
attention to breathing, listening and chanting as a fresh beginning where unforeseen
values and surprises can emerge.
Christianity, and particularly Benedictine monasticism, advocates
a particular horizon of listening and breathing through the sound of Plain
Chant; The Alexander Technique is universally recognised as a most powerful
means of natural breathing which heals and restores equilibrium; one monk’s
spiritual life journey provides insights and symbols for the true seeker of
God and spiritual wholeness.
THIS IS A WORKSHOP THAT PROMISES FRESH BEGINNINGS IN INITIATIVE, CREATIVITY
AND SPIRITUALITY FOR EVERYONE; LISTENERS, SINGERS, SEEKERS ALIKE.
DO NOT POSTPONE THE OPPORTUNITY.
Join us in this workshop which will gently
unveil new gifts and talents within you.
Registration Friday 4pm, concludes Sunday 1pm.
